Hornets Leave Lakers in the Dust Late

That guy slashing and burning defenders was NOT Kobe Bryant.

"You won't be seeing too many dudes like that this season, getting into the paint like that," said Bryant, who led Los Angeles with 24 points. "I love his game."

Chris Paul scored the most points in the game with 26 points while grabbin' 11 rebounds in the New Orleans Hornets' 105-89 victory Wednesday night that snapped their season-high five-game losing streak.

Where our team has changed so much is we didn't let (the losing streak) bother us," Paul said. "Last year I think it would have gotten us down and we would have thought about it too much. But when you play 82 games in this league as fast as you lose them, you can win them just as quick."

"They played with a lot more hunger than we did at key moments," Bryant said, noting New Orleans came in off a five-day layoff.

Kobe played okay despite his sore ankle he said was at 50 percent.

Paul's 11 rebounds allowed New Orleans to dominate the boards, 49-31, including 20 offensive rebounds.

"That's what killed us," Bryant said. "They went after it harder than we did in the paint."

Stay tuned for a Lakers State of Affairs post.

Kobe Injured Against Pacers

I was scared when I heard Kobe - KOBE BRYANT - was injured.

Coach Phil Jackson called it a moderate sprain of the right ankle, and Kobe was listed as day-to-day.

``It should be a lot worse, the way I came down on it,'' Bryant said. ``I'm happy that I feel the way I feel right now. I don't know about Wednesday.''

Kobe had 21 points when he got injured in the early part of the third quarter.

``It's always about the next day,'' Bryant said. ``Tonight was about staying on top of it. The hardest part is keeping the tape on because the ankle swells up and the tape keeps it from swelling. So I'm in for a painful long night.''

``I said to Phil, 'If you need me, I'll go back in.' And he knows what that means because typically I would just run right up to the scorer's table if I'm ready to go,'' Bryant said. ``I would have had to go out there and limp. But if I needed to go out there to be a threat or knock down a couple of jumpers, I could have done it.''

Kobe landed on Matt Foster's (Indiana Pacers) foot and rolled his ankle.

``I didn't even know he landed on my foot. I just saw him fall,'' Foster said. ``When I came out, I asked, 'Did he land on my foot?' and someone said, 'Yeah.' I thought he would come back. But they were kicking our butts, so there was no reason for him to come back in.''

The Los Angeles Lakers still spanked them 101-87.

Kobe quietly scored 29 points while leading the Lakers to a 97-88 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.

Lamar Odom helped Kobe Bryant and the Lakers with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Smush Parker added 11.

Bryant was coming off a 52-point performance in a victory over Utah on Thursday night, when he went 19-of-26 in a rout of the Jazz.

The Clippers are miserable this season on the road, at 0-6.
